A delightful Victorian holiday villa, situated at the gateway to Scotland. Built in 1887, this former manse was once the centre of the village, with church meetings, fêtes and even village weddings taking place in what is now the drawing room.
Offering spectacular views of the Solway and North Lake District and with tranquil surroundings, this is an ideal place from which to explore and experience the historic atmosphere of the Border Reiver country.
Gretna Green is a three-mile drive or walk and is world famous for weddings. Catering can be arranged at Berryburn and, of course, the whole area is well provided for in terms of wedding services - hairdressers, taxis, kilt and dress hire, etc.
Berryburn is a substantial Victorian villa situated so close to Gretna Green as to be the perfect venue for that relaxed informal wedding party following the ceremony at the famous Gretna Green historic marriage centre.
It is also perfect for a family holiday based in the lovely south-west of Scotland, and close to plenty of attractions. Golfers will find many courses within a small radius of the house, and those wanting to explore the Solway Coast, with its beaches and villages, can do so with ease.
Being just north of the Scotland/England border, it is ideal for those from England to head north for a long weekend break in the quieter times and, with an abundance of places to eat in the area, a catering-free few days can be had.
The gardens are large and well maintained and ideal for wedding photography, for a wedding buffet or for relaxing in the evening sun with a glass of wine.
Berryburn has been refurbished in 2009 and newly appointed.
